I’m a Water Sign

A lot of my friends make fun of me because I am very serious about astrology and what is predicted for me according to my astrological sign. Where some people will just read what is written in a newspaper, I get a lot more in depth about it. People tend to think it’s a bunch of hocus-pocus but there is a real science around astrology and a great deal of truth to be found in it.

It goes way beyond just reading your daily horoscope; it’s about how the planets are aligned and how that affects our moods and personalities. I wrote a paper in college about the different personality traits according to astrological signs. I interviewed 50 different people; many of them I didn’t know very well and asked them was what their birth signs were. I also asked them 25 questions concerning their personalities and habits. After I got all the information from all the people I compared everybody who had the same sign. Amazingly they all displayed similar traits as others who had their same sign.

There have been many times that I consulted a professional who does personal astrology readings when I needed a little guidance as to what path I should take at a certain time in my life. It’s not that I don’t think I can make a decision on my own but sometimes I just need confirmation in knowing I am making the right choice. On those few occasions that I disregarded the advice, the choice I made turned out to not be the best choice.

I have gathered a great deal of good information about astrology online. I urge other people to do the research for yourself and not just take my word for it. There is a lot of truth in the science of astrology and I know it has helped me many times in my life.

Celebrity Natal Charts: Johnny Rotten

There are very few people in the world that don’t at least recognize the name Johnny Rotten ... he was discovered by the record company spitting at people as they walked along a central London street, telling them they were sheep. He was the driving personality in the Sex Pistols, and continued with a very successful musical career. Today we delve a little deeper into what makes Johnny Rotten tick, with a look at his natal chart.
Basic details - Johnny Rotten's personal astrological reading
Here are the base details that astrologers use to calculate different facets of Johnny Rotten's personality:
Born: January 31, 1956, unknown time (noon is often used when the time of birth isn't known)
In: London
Sun: 10°36 Aquarius
Moon:2°53 Libra
Dominant elements in Johnny Rotten's natal chart
Three of the elements are actually very evenly split in Johnny Rotten's natal cart, with 36% Air, 30% water, and 34% fire. The air in his chart suggests skill in communication as well as mobility, while the fire shows a strong intuition, courage, energy and enthusiasm. If you've ever seen videos of Johnny Rotten performing (or the real thing, for that matter), you'll certainly be able to identify the fire element with his public persona.
However, there are no earth elements represented in his chart - the average is 25%. This indicates little interest in materialism, which is certainly consistent with what we know of him, and as idealistic as this sounds, it can definitely cause problems with appreciating the realities of a situation.
Dominant modes in Johnny Rotten's natal chart
The fixed mode is that most emphasized in Johnny Rotten's natal chart, with 43% of the modes set as fixed. This indicates a willingness to be the hardworking and stable one. This is quite obviously tempered with the 31% mutable modes ... Johnny Rotten has changed his musical style several times, very publicly, though his base values remain the same.
Dominant planets
The dominant planets in Johnny Rotten's natal chart are Uranus, Venus and Mercury. The Uranian influence creates Rotten's independence, originality and freedom, as well as that oh-so-visible rebellious streak! Venus shows he has passion, and Mercury his skill in communication, which is very evident when he is being interviewed - he is quite an articulate soul, for all that his ideas are non-standard.

Solving the Twin Problem in Astrology

The twin problem is one of the most persistent in astrological readings. Since the school of thought relies on birth times as a predictor of personality, and twins almost always have roughly the same birth time (in cases where they are born by Caesarian, birth times are usually identical to within one or two minutes). However, there are plenty of examples of twins all over the world who have very different personalities and have taken very different paths in the world. Today we explore some reasons for that, and explain why the twin problem isn’t a problem at all, merely an astrological phenomenon.
The Short Answer
A personal astrological reading has many different possibilities' contained within it. Sometimes these are conflicting, sometimes one aspect will win out over the other. Astrology is as complex as psychology, and sometimes, twins simply live out different aspects of their charts.
In some cases, the simple fact that they are twins CAUSES them to want to live out different aspects of their charts, in an effort to create their own individual persona and not be identified only as part of a twin pair.
The Four P's
The way an astrological reading plays out in real life is an expression of the four p's:
  • Potential
  • Probability
  • Predisposition
  • Propensity
The potential of a twin's chart is the same as their brother or sisters, but all of the other 'P's may be different.
Splitting up the energy
In fact, it seems that twins often split up the energy contained within their charts, so that one twin will demonstrate a strength in a particular area as defined by their natal chart, and the other will exhibit strength in another area. It's sort of like the 'good twin, bad twin' urban legend that many people believe in.
Separated at birth
We can clearly see how an individual's astrological reading creates parallels with their twins when we see twins that are separated at birth. They often choose the same careers, have similar partners and friendship styles, etc.. This is the playing out of energies in the astrological chart, although the environments they grew up in may have been completely different.

Accidental versus Equatorial Ascendants in a Natal Chart

When it comes to interpreting a natal chart, there are few things that are more important than the ascendant. The ascendant is the sign that was ascending on the eastern horizon at the time of birth. Understanding the ascendant is important in understanding how somebody relates to the world, the face or mask that they wear in public (which is often quite closely related to their inner self). There are a couple of variations of the ascendant in a quality astrological reading - the accidental ascendant, and the equatorial ascendant. We look at these phenomena today.
Ascendants in general
Here are a couple of points to remember about the ascendant in general:
  • The ascendant sign represents how a person interacts with the world - their exterior persona
  • The closer towards the beginning of a sign the ascendant falls, the stronger its influence in a birth chart
  • When the ascendant falls close to the start of a sign, most of the first house falls into that sign also.
  • When the sun is in a weak position in the chart, the ascendant is usually strengthened
  • People are thought to become more like their sun sign after around the age of 30, and less like their ascendant, because they grow in confidence and have less need of a public 'face'
Equatorial ascendants
The equatorial ascendant is the sign, and the degree, rising over the Eastern horizon at the Earth's equator. It is also the point where the Earth's equator intersects the ecliptic. In very rare occasions, the equatorial ascendant might be different to the birth latitude ascendant - this would happen more frequently when people are born near the poles.
Accidental ascendants
Accidental ascendants are the ascendant for the date and time relevant to a question being asked - for example, the date of an exam, or a marriage, etc. An astrological reading might superimpose the querent's chart on the ascendant for the actual question, to combine trends and make a prediction.

Seduction Tips: The Air Signs

It can be really difficult to tell much that is meaningful about a person by going on dates! We all dress ourselves up, put our best manners on, avoid talking about the things that are really important to us (like politics and religion), and generally hide our true selves. If you've recently met a guy who you'd like to get to know better, one starter method is to check on his sign! This can be not only a handy way of getting some insight into the basics of what makes him tick, but also ensuring that he wants you to stick around long enough that you can get to know him as an individual. If you don’t have his natal chart handy, we give you the next best thing today. We are focusing on the air signs.

A Perfect Fit

After having several failed relationships, I decided I needed a different plan of action. Certainly the methods I was using weren’t working and I was getting a bit desperate to find this ellusive man of my dreams. A good friend of mine practiced and taught astrology and she suggested I try her method. I had always been very skeptical about it but I figured I had nothing to lose by trying what she taught.

My friend explained to me how the signs of the zodiac really do play a big part in how well we mesh with other people. She gave me several books to read and actually gave me homework to complete and turn in to her when I was finished. Before I could put this method to work, I had to understand what it all meant so I spent the best part of a month reading and studying the books she gave me. I began to understand everything she was saying and it actually made perfect sense to me.

Who we are and our unique personalities have a great deal to do with astrology. One of the exercises she asked me to do was to list all the men I had dated and what their astrological signs are. I then made note of how their personalities were formed by the astrological signs they were born under and how compatible they would be matched with my astrological sign. I was amazed to see that almost all of the men I had been dating were in no way a match for me and that I had been wasting my time trying to make relationships work with them.

After I had figured out why my other relationships didn’t work she helped me to understand the type of man that would be a good love compatibility match with me. Once I had this information I could use it to my benefit; I just wasn’t sure how to apply it. I couldn’t see myself walking up to a man and asking him what his sign was; that seemed too cliché. My friend suggested I try an astrology online site that helps match couples by their astrological matches. I found a site and signed up. Within three weeks I had been matched with several different men and found them to be much easier to talk to and communicate with.

I began that process two years ago; today I am happily married with a baby on the way. I am a true believer in astrology and how it plays a huge role in our relationships. It’s more than just a daily horoscope; it’s a very real way to chart your life.

Walking Through Life

I began studying astrology ten years ago shortly after I had a multitude of disappointments in my life. My marriage failed, I was laid off from my job due to down-sizing, and my best friend passed away suddenly. My life was a mess and no matter what venue I looked to for guidance I couldn’t seem to find any kind of peace. That’s when I began researching astrology to find out if there was any truth to it.

What I began studying was much deeper than the daily horoscope you find in the local newspaper. I actually took a college course to help me understand it and how to apply it to my life. Horoscopes are just one small aspect of what astrology is all about. I had no idea the depth of the science associated with astrology but as I began understanding it all, I found a great deal of peace settle into my life. I felt more in control of who I was and where I was going in life.

I became fascinated with the aspect of love compatibility and why some relationships work while others don’t. I began surveying friends, family, and strangers concerning their relationships. After I had interviewed 500 people, I took the data I gathered and put it into a chart. Time and time again the data showed that astrologically compatible couples stayed together while those who were not compatible more often than not split up. This information seemed to be invaluable and I wondered why more people didn’t trust in astrology to help them make tough choices in their life.

When people begin looking for answers to hard questions they have about their lives just giving them a simple answer is not good enough. If you are going to give advice about life, you should have something to back up that advice in the way of data or examples. I took all the data that I’ve compiled over the years and bound it together into a reference book of sorts concerning the zodiac and many different aspects of astrology that I have found to be beneficial in my life. I freely share this information with anybody who asks and feel it is my responsibility to help others understand astrology and how it applies to our daily lives. I have become a more confident and happy person because of what I have learned over the past ten years and I hope that what I pass on to others will help them to find the same kind of peace I found.
